About Sparkling Botanicals by Rishi +-

Sparkling Botanicals by Rishi elevates sparkling botanical tea with rare ingredients sourced directly from artisan growers across the earth. Light, refreshing, and formulated for flavor and function. They were inspired to harness their over 20 years of experience in the tea and botanical trade and combine their passions for herbology and the culinary arts to deliver a product that they touch from the field to the final product. They sourced and imported fruits, spices, and herbs from their partners around the globe and brought them back to their Rishi Herb Lab. They studied and experimented with the intention of making a sparkling beverage utilizing only the virtues of these raw ingredients. There are no sugars, flavoring additives, or powdered extracts - and they will never use artificial anything.

Their mission is to transform the beverage industry from the inside out with Real Plants - Real Virtue. Rishi Tea was founded on the commitment to set the standard for quality and expand the awareness of tea and its rich, inspirational tradition. They offer premium tea and botanicals imported directly from gardens across the world. They draw inspiration from ancient artisanal practices that use organic cultivation techniques as well as modern culinary innovation. From their modest beginnings over twenty years ago to becoming an established leader in the specialty tea market, their mission has never wavered.

Their commitment to sustainability is a core part of their mission that stems from the organic tea gardens where their teas and botanicals are harvested. Their firsthand experience in many tea-growing regions led to their heightened awareness of the dire need for social responsibility. Rishi Tea was among the first to earn organic certification under the USDA’s Natural Organic Program in November of 2002. They believe that organic certified teas and herbs, grown without the use of agrochemicals like pesticides and fertilizers, are generally healthier for the environment, farmers, and tea drinkers alike.

They support growers who cultivate ecologically sustainable gardens in remote locations around the world. Tea was originally a food and medicine long before it became a steeped beverage. It is only natural that their tea practice draws inspiration from numerous disciplines, including third wave coffee, cocktail mixology, sommeliers’ oenology, botanical apothecary, and the traditional culinary arts from global food cultures. Their practice of Direct Trade is not just a romance story or marketing gimmick: it is the very foundation of their quality control program. Their travel and hands-on work with farmers allows them to verify where, when, and how their organic teas are grown and to offer traceability on each lot back to the farm.

“We want to focus the passion and creativity of Rishi’s amazing team on something totally new and exciting—something that honors our enduring relationships with farmers and tea drinkers while transcending our core business of dried teas and botanicals. As a selector, importer, and taste maker, our natural progression is to make beverages with teas and botanicals that are ready to drink. People love our teas but have less and less time to brew them. Tea drinkers are moving to bottled and canned teas to save their time but have few options that offer premium botanicals and high-end teas brewed without added sugar, sweeteners or acidic preservatives. Our new line of Sparkling Botanicals elevates RTD with craft brewing and meets this demand for real plants with real virtue.” -Joshua Kaiser, founder of Rishi Tea & Botanicals

Rishi Tea began in 1997 when Joshua Kaiser, founder and tea buyer, recognized that the traditional handcrafted teas he grew so fond of during his travels in Asia were rarely available elsewhere. Joshua felt that North American consumers would embrace artisan tea as they did single origin coffee and fine varietal wine. They travel thousands of miles each year to the diverse points of origin where their teas are harvested, maintaining the personal relationships they have developed over the years with farmers and artisans whose families have been making traditional teas for generations.
