Red Haven Freestone
"Chambersburg Peaches" are a thing. The title came into existence not because of general confusion over where all PA peaches are grown, but because the best peaches are grown around the city of Chambersburg, PA. Located in the Cumberland Valley, Chambersburg has one orchard in city limits and lots of neighboring peach orchards, and we work with a number of them. The excellent soil and the abundant number of springs in the Cumberland Valley are some of the factors that make the "Chambersburg Peach" so delicious and special.
These peaches are "freestone" peaches, which means the flesh just pulls away from the pit. Perfect for baking, grilling, eating by hand, or any other application you choose!
The variety offered is the "Red Haven" which is the classic Georgia peach - where it is notable, we still think the Chambersburg peach is better! You'll have to decide for yourself!
As Dewight Mickey, owner of Shatzer Fruit Orchard in Chambersburg says it, "they are the genuine article and once you've had them you'll never forget them." The Shatzer peach is something to behold and we have it!!!
Harvest Hills Orchard in St. Thomas, PA which is just a few miles down the road from Chambersburg, also has unforgettable peaches. We orginally had some of their peaches years ago at a late summer fair, and we were in love at first bite.
